Trooper Identify Man Killed in McLean Road Vehicle Crash

Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol has identified the driver killed in a single vehicle crash on McLean Road in Mount Vernon as 40-year old Caleb Severson of Stanwood, WA.Β 

Initially, in a press release Troopers said a 48-year old Camano Island man had died in the crash but they updated it on the afternoon of July 12th, 2022.

Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a single-vehicle fatal collision around 2:56 a.m. on July 12th, 2022.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a 48-year-old Camano Island man was traveling Eastbound on McLean Road in a 2002 Buick when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a pole on the Westbound shoulder near Best Road.

Local First responders and medics responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures, but the man died at the scene.

Troopers withheld the man’s name for 24-hours so next of kin notifications could be made and the family had time to contact other family members and friends. Troopers say the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor, and the cause remains under investigation.

The vehicle was totaled and impounded by Carl’s Towing for safe keeping.
