Mount Vernon Police Investigate Drive-By Shooting on E. Division Street

Mount Vernon, WA – On July 19, 2022 at approximately 7:50 pm, the Mount Vernon Police Department was dispatched to a weapon offense in the 2300 Block of E. Division, Mount Vernon, WA.
Multiple reporting parties advised that a red BMW and a silver BMW were driving erratically. The occupants of the red BMW were firing numerous gunshots at the silver vehicle. When officers
arrived, they were unable to locate those involved. There were no calls to 911 from the occupants of either vehicle.

Detectives and patrol officers investigated the scene. This required closing N. Laventure for approximately 75 minutes as evidence was collected and witnesses interviewed.

On July 20, 2022, Detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle. Further investigation identified the suspect as a 22-year-old Mount Vernon man. At 2:00 pm,
the suspect was taken into custody by Mount Vernon Police Tactical Operations without incident. A subsequent search warrant on the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of
the vehicle involved and additional evidence.

The suspect was booked into the Skagit County Community Justice Center on the charge of Drive-by Shooting.
