Arlington, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a serious injuries crash on State Route 530 at Arlington Heights Road around 12:34 p.m. on Saturday, August 6th, 2022.
According to a press release from the Washington State Patrol, 52-year-old Corey Miller of Stanwood, Washington was traveling Eastbound on State Route 530 in a 2005 Chevy Pickup, approaching Arlington Heights Road. Troopers say Miller failed to stop at a stoplight and struck a white 2015 Volkswagen Passat being driven by 26-year old Zoey Ensey of Arlington as she was turning onto Westbound State Route 530 from Arlington Heights Road. The pickup came to rest on the sidewalk on the Northeast Corner of the intersection and the Volkswagen Passat came to rest blocking the Eastbound lane of State Route 530.
Miller, who troopers say was not wearing a seat belt, was injured and transported by medical personnel to Providence Hospital Colby Campus where his condition is unknown.
Zoey Ensey was seriously injured and transported by medical personnel to Cascade Valley Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Troopers say she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. Next of kin notification was completed by Trooper 338.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash and impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bull Pen 712 as evidence. The official cause of the crash remains under investigation and potential charges against Miller remain under investigation. Troopers said that it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
