Drunk Driver Injures Whatcom County Teens

Whatcom County: The Washington State Patrol  responded to a two car motor vehicle collision on Emerson Road at Massey Road today. According to the Washington State Patrol Press release, Justin Beld, 28 of Everson, Wa was southbound on Emerson Road in a 2004 Mazda RX8 when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 16 year old Cadence Pen of Nooksack.  The VW was westbound on Massey Road rounding the corner to go North on Emerson Road when she was hit head on.  The Washington State patrol says Justin Beld was transported by Aid to St. Joseph’s Hospital and then booked into Whatcom County jail on Suspicion of Vehicular assault and driving under the influence.  Troopers says drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Also injured in the accident were passengers in the VW Jetta. They are Jewell Carpenter, 16 of Everson,  Darian Dunnett, 16 of Everson, and Autumn Johnson, 17 of Everson.  All 4 juveniles were transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Darian was transported to Harborview in Seattle for surgery. The condition of the other occupants are unknown.  Both Vehicles were towed by Berks Towing to the Bellingham Bullpen.
