Everett, WA: The Washington State Patrol responded to a two car vs Pedestrian Motor Vehicle Accident on Southbound Interstate 5 near Milepost 191 in Everett. According the press release around 10:40 pm on June 21st, 2014, Robert Verdecias, 59 of Seattle was driving a white 2011 Ford Ranger Pickup Southbound on Interstate 5 and Minh Diep, 59 of Bothell was also driving Southbound on I-5 in a 2010 Mazda M3. A pedestrian crossed from the Right Shoulder on I-5 into Lane 4 and was struck by vehicle 1 and then by vehicle 2 in lane 5. The pedestrian, a 53 year old male from Tukwila was killed instantly and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin. The 2010 Mazda M3 was impounded to Dicks towing due to damage to the vehicle and the Ford Ranger was driven from the scene. The cause of the accident is listed as pedestrian in the roadway. It is unknown if the pedestrian intentionally stepped in front of the vehicles or if this was a tragic accident. No Charges are pending against either driver.
