2 Car injury Collision SR2 MP17-Snohomish County

Snohomish County, WA: On September 6th, 2014 at around 10:40 pm, the Washington State Patrol responded to a two car Motor Vehicle Accident on State Route 2, near milepost 17.

Arriving officers found that a 1997 Honda Civic, driven by 23 year old Bryan Scott of Tacoma, had been traveling Westbound on SR2 and was passing other vehicles in a no passing zone. It was also reported to be driving erratically prior to the accident.  During one of the illegal passes, the driver of the Honda Civic crossed into Eastbound traffic and hit a 2007 Audi A6, driven by Daryl Blanton, 52,  of Fresno California head on in the Eastbound Lanes of Highway 2.  The driver of the Honda was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and the Driver of the Audi was injured and taken to Valley General Hospital.  Both vehicles were totaled and impounded to the Washington State Patrol office in Marysville.  The cause of the accident is listed as illegal passing/driving over the center line and according to the Washington State Patrol press release, alcohol or drugs are believed to be factors in the crash. Charges are pending against the driver of the Honda.
