3 Car Motor vehicle Accident: Island County

Island County: On September 06, 2014  at around 1:30 pm The Washington State Patrol received reports of a 3 car motor vehicle accident on State Route 525, near milepost 23. This is about 2 miles south of Greenbank, Washington in Island County.  According to the Washington State Patrol Press memo, Vehicle 1 was driven by Daniel Roberts, 70 of Seattle, Washington. He was driving Northbound on SR525 in a Blue 2010 Kia Soul when crossed the center line and struck vehicle 2,  a Silver 2002 Honda Civic, driven by 31 year old Hieu Truong of Seattle. Vehicle 1 continued Northbound and struck vehicle 3, a light Green 1996 Toyota Avalon driven by 54 year old Anne Griffin of Seattle. All three vehicles then came to rest on the Southbound Shoulder of State Route 525. The drivers of vehicle 1 and vehicle 3 were both injured and transported to Whidbey General Hospital.  A passenger in vehicle 1, Judy Marti, 74 of Coupeville was injured and transported to Whidbey General Hospital. Passengers Ut Tran, 52 of Seattle and Passenger Nguyen Staley, 32 of Seattle in vehicle 2 were both injured and transported to Whidbey General Hosptial. All three vehicles were impounded to Scotty’s Towing. The cause of the accident is listed as Inattention to the road. The driver of vehicle 1, was reaching for his glasses when he crossed the center line and struck the other vehicles. Charges of Negligent Driving 2nd degree are pending against the driver of vehicle 1.
