Whatcom County: The Washington State Patrol responded to reports of serious injury motorcycle collision around 8:54 am this morning at West Badger Road and Sunrise Road in Whatcom County. According to the Press release, vehicle #1, a black 1999 Chevrolet K1 Pickup, driven by Derek Tiemersma, 22, of Blaine, Washington was Southbound on Sunrise Road approaching West Badger Road. Vehicle #2, a 2005 Triumph motorcycle, driven by Michael Caldwell, 61, of Surrey, BC., was Eastbound on West Badger Road approaching the intersection with Sunrise Road. The driver of vehicle #1 failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by vehicle #2. The driver of the motorcycle as well as his passenger, Beverly Raginski, 62, of Surrey, B.C. were both transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with injuries. Their condition are both unknown. Both vehicles were totaled and impounded to the Bellingham, Washington State Patrol detachment bullpen. The cause is cited as Failure to stop at a stop sign and charges are pending.
