Driver Charged after crash near Marysville

Marysville, WA: 10/04/14. Just after midnight on October 04, 2014 the Washington State Patrol responded to a serious injury collision on Southbound Interstate 5 near Milepost 198 in Marysville. Responding Troopers found that a 1995 BMW 740, driven by 23 year old Thomas Merrin of Lynnwood, Washington was traveling at a hi-rate of speed in lane one of three when the driver attempted to merge into the left lane, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The driver over corrected, and struck the jersey barrier pushing it into traffic.  The following passengers in the vehicle were Injured and transported to Providence Hospital.  Riley McGuy, 20 of Lynnwood, Maddy Payton, 21 of Lynnwood, and Britton Madison, 19, of Lynnwood. The press memo states none of the passengers were wearing  seat belts.  The BMW was impounded to the WSP District 7 bull pen. The driver is facing two counts of vehicular assault.
