Rollover Injury Collision 22nd & K Ave-Anacortes

Anacortes, Washington: 9:47 pm, October 19th, 2014: Emergency Personnel from Anacortes responded to a serious injury collision at 22nd street and K Avenue in the City of Anacortes. Arriving units found a Black 1996 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Alaska Waite, 18, of Anacortes had been traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on K Avenue when it left the roadway and crashed into a concrete pillar. The vehicle then rolled, coming to rest on its left side. According to a witness, the vehicle was traveling in excessive of 60+ MPH in a 25 MPH Zone prior to the collision.  The witness said a total of five  teens were in the vehicle, two of the five teens were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over.   According to the press memo, the driver was wearing a seat belt and was injured and transported to Island Hospital where his condition is unknown at this time. Of the  four additional passengers  three of them were  injured.  Jennifer Dolan, 18, of Anacortes, who according to the press memo was not wearing a seat belt was injured and transported to Island Hospital. Also injured were a 16 year old female and a 15 year old male and according to the press memo,  neither of the juveniles were wearing seat belts. They were both transported to Island Hospital.  Cecil Dodd, 19, of Anacortes, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The press memo cites the cause as under investigation. Charges are pending against the driver.  The vehicle was impounded by Anacortes Towing.
