Dear Skagit Breaking Moderators,
A recent post of yours reminded me that I am not always good about reaching out to let others know how much I appreciate them.
I want to take a moment to thank you all.
I grew up and live in Arlington. I also have strong ties to Skagit County. This year or so has been devastating for our communities. We have suffered pain from the type of losses that are so unthinkable. Never in our little communities did we expect we would be dealing with events of the magnitude of the Oso slide or the MP shooting (and many other recent situations). Through it all you have been there sharing information as absolutely fact based as you can. Through your efforts you have not just informed people of what is happening in our areas, you have created an avenue for people to connect to one another to help and heal. To share life together. You fill a void that has been missing for a very long time.
I’m not sure any of you are truly aware how large of a positive impact you have on our communities. You bring people back together in a society where everyone is drifting apart and disconnecting.
Like a 911 dispatcher you guys are constantly surrounded by sadness and see the worst side of humanity. Yet there you are, always wading through it for the sake of others.
You have a positive impact on me. You let me know whats going on in my home area, you allow me to connect with others. The slide was unbearable and like most people in my area I knew many victims. The positive information and community ways to help that you shared help me to climb out of my own pain and help others.
I was getting on I-5 SB at College Way when the bridge collapsed. That was actually when I found your page.
I am thankful I did. I get much of my local news from you.
Keep up the amazing work and a huge thank you for being there!!!
