Fatal Collision: SR9 at Snohomish River

Snohomish County: January 22nd, 2015. 3:26 pm.  The Washington State Patrol responded to a two car, fatal collision on State Route 9, at the Snohomish River.

According to the press memo, Juan Arias, 22, of Marysville was Northbound State Route 9 at the Snohomish River driving a black, 1998 Honda Accord when he crossed the center line, lost control of his vehicle and struck a South Bound, 2004 Dodge Durango  head-on. The driver of the Durango, Chad Walterson, 59, of Lake Stevens was injured and transported to Providence Hospital.  The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both vehicles were impounded to Sky Valley Towing.

The press memo states both drivers were wearing seat belts and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. *

The cause of the accident is listed as crossing the center line.
