Mount Vernon Police K-9 “Luther” Retires

Mount Vernon, Wa: After 9-years of service, Luther, Mount Vernon Police Departments K-9 Officer is retiring.

The City of Mount Vernon acquired Luther in 2005 as a certified canine generalist.  Luther was busy during his career, as  he was  deployed 1,136 times, where he was  responsible for over 300 arrests as well as  200 evidence finds.  He assisted other agencies in Skagit County  on at least 160 occasions.   Luther also made  numerous public appearances for demonstrations and presentations within the community.

Luther was a valued and respected member of the Mount Vernon Police Department and will get to enjoy his retirement with Officer Wright and his family.
