Burlington, WA: The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a serious injury Motor Vehicle Collision around 5:30 am this morning on Old Highway 99 near Driftin Lane.
Initial reports were for a two vehicle head-on collision with entrapment.
Firefighters from Fire District 6 and the Burlington Fire Department responded as well as Paramedics from Skagit County EMS.
Arriving units found a one vehicle collision, car verses two trees with heavy damage and entrapment.
According to the press memo, Emma Chabal, 22, of Bellingham, was Southbound on Old Highway 99 in a white 1998 Toyota Avalon, when she failed to negotiate a curve near Driftin Lane. Her vehicle exited the roadway and struck two trees.
Firefighters used extrication tools (Jaws of Life) to cut the driver from the mangled vehicle.
Medics transported the driver to Skagit Valley Hospital where we are told she was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The Washington State Patrol was requested to the scene by the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the Accident Investigation.
The condition of the driver was unknown at the time of this article.
The cause is under investigation. The press memo states it is unknown in the driver was wearing a seat belt. Possible Charges are under investigation. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The Vehicle was impounded by Joe’s Towing.
