Mount Vernon Police arrest 31 year old Sedro Woolley man for eluding police, possessing a stolen vehicle and multiple other crimes

 Mount Vernon, WA: On 2/23/15 at approximately 9:19 pm, a Mount Vernon Police Officer was driving eastbound on Hoag Road near West Stewart Road when he observed a white pick-up in front of him driving without his lights.  As he tried to catch up to the vehicle, he could see that it was travelling at a high rate and paced the vehicle between 50 and 60 mph on this 25mph roadway.  The officer noticed that the truck had a blown rear tire and it was weaving in the roadway.  He activated his emergency lights near Hoag and 18th Place and the truck accelerated onto the next street (20^th Place) where the driver quickly realized the road ended into a cul de sac.  The driver fled from the vehicle running through nearby yards.  Police learned the truck had been stolen from a Draper Valley Farm site off Riverbend Road.  Local K9 teams were not available so Bellingham Police Department agreed to assist.  The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office  K-9 Team tracked the suspect through yards, wooded areas and finally located the suspect in the 2500 Block of Francis Road.  During the track, the suspect tried to divert police by reporting a shooting call.  The call came into Skagit 911 with limited information and then the caller hung up.  Skagit 911 Dispatchers researched the number and found it matched a phone used by the suspect police were tracking.

 The 31-year-old Sedro Woolley man was booked into Skagit County Jail for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Eluding, Resisting Arrest, False Reporting, Vehicle Prowling 2 and Reckless Driving.  Mount Vernon Police appreciate Bellingham Police Department and all the agencies who assisted with this arrest.

According to the Skagit County Jail Roster, Jesse Lederle was detained and booked  into the Skagit County Jail in  connection with the incident.
