Nielsen Brothers Inc. (a logging company in Whatcom County) has purchased 135+ acres commonly called Hidden Lakes (also known as the beaver ponds) between Blackburn Rd. and Little Mount Rd. They are planning on logging 135 of the acres. They have applied to the DNR to have jurisdiction over the logging, and the DNR says that they have jurisdiction over the city. This means that it would be under the DNR Class III FPA which requires basically no setbacks from wetlands.
