The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle accident on the Southbound I-5 off ramp to State Route 524 in Lynnwood.
According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, Christopher Kmetz, 41, of Bothell was Southbound I-5 in a 2003 Honda S2000 when he exited to Eastbound State Route 524 at a high rate of speed. His vehicle left the roadway to the East just before the sharp right turn, coming to rest in a pond.
The Lynnwood Fire Department responded and began CPR on the driver.
The driver was injured and originally transported to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds before being transported to Harborview where he later died on February 28th at 3:12 PM.
The vehicle was totaled and impounded by Wally’s Towing.
The memo states drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the accident. The driver was wearing his seat belt. Speed is listed as the cause of the accident.
