Mayor Sexton began his term of office January 1, 2012. His term ends December 31, 2015.
“I have known for a long time that Burlington is a fantastic place to work and raise a family, but over the last four years I have come to realize how fortunate I have been to be Mayor of such a great city. When I attend conferences around the state and hear from other cities the challenges they are faced with that we are not, I realize how fortunate we have been in Burlington that previous administrations and City Councils have put Burlington in a place where we can succeed when others struggle” Sexton said.
“I take pride in the significant changes we have made to city government in the last four years to become more transparent, more efficient, and more accountable to all of our citizens and businesses alike. There are still many things I would like to see us improve upon, and working with our City Council, I believe we can get these done and make Burlington more of a special place.”
Sexton continued “Burlington is a unique city in many ways, with a unique set of challenges and also opportunities. We need to continue to capitalize on these opportunities to bring a greater level of services to our constituents.”
“With the support of the citizens, city staff, and the City Council, I believe Burlington’s best days are ahead of us” Sexton said.
