Mount Vernon, WA: In February of 2015, a mother reported to the Mount Vernon Police Department that her 5 year old daughter told her she had been playing the “Who-ha” game that involved touching and licking private parts of an adult man that had been trusted to babysit the girl on occasion.
A second Mother and 4 year old daughter from the same apartment complex also came forward to the Mount Vernon Police Department with a similar story about the Who-ha game.
Child Forensic Interview detectives interviewed both young girls and the original girl confirmed the story to detectives. The girl stated she learned the game from Gary Newbaker, 26 of Mount Vernon and he asked her to “keep a secret.”
Mr. Newbaker was contacted and subsequently arrested for two counts of Child Molestation in the 1st degree. He was an active DOC supervised person at the time of arrest and was on GPS monitoring. His DOC officer was able to complete a review of his GPS monitoring device and found his GPS locations at the victims residence on multiple occasions.
Mr. Newbaker has denied the charges and a trial is set for May 18th, 2015. He is currently awaiting trial in Skagit County Jail.
