Sedro Woolley, WA: On May 10th, 2013, a woman concerned about someone downloading child pornography on her laptop contacted the Sedro Woolley Police Department.
The woman turned over her laptop to the police as well as a handwritten note from the man she says admitted to viewing and downloading the images without her knowledge.
Sedro Woolley Officers received a search warrant to search the computer and sent it to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab. On March 3rd, 2014, the Sedro Woolley Police received the computer back from the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab as well as a CD Rom that contained links to the images found on the computer.
Officers Located a large amount of images that depicted minors involved in sexually explicit conduct.
On March 13th, 2014 Officers contacted 43 year old Russell Torset, and after reading him his Constitutional Rights, Mr. Torset admitted that he had used the woman’s laptop computer to search for child pornopgraphy which he viewed more than fifty (50) Times.
Mr. Torset was arrested and charged with (4) Counts of Internet Viewing of minors engaged in sexual conduct per RCW 9.68A.075.
Mr Torset plead guilty in April of 2015 to three (3) Counts of possessing images of minors engaged in Sexual Conduct and was sentenced to over 5 years in prison.
