Whatcom County, WA: May 31st, 2015. 12:07 PM. The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle motorcycle collision on State Route 542 near Milepost 49.
According to the Press Memo released by the Washington State Patrol, Michael Wayner, 61 of Friday Harbor was headed Eastbound on State Route 542 on a Burgundy 2007 Yamaha FJR13A motorcycle when he passed another vehicle in a curve on a double yellow line. His motorcycle left the roadway and went off a cliff. It came to rest in the trees. Witnesses performed CPR on Mr. Wayner but he died from his injuries.
The press memo lists Speed and passing in a curve as the cause of the accident.
