Sedro Woolley, WA: On Sunday, the Sedro Woolley Police Department responded to reports of an underfed dog in a yard at a house in the 900 block of Bennett Street in Sedro Woolley.
Neighbors say the dog is loose on a regular basis and neighbors say it is underfed and neglected by its’ owners.
Officers from the Sedro Woolley Police Department responded to check on the dog and ultimately took custody of the dog. While at the residence, Officers smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from open windows at the residence.
Officers made contact with the resident who cooperated with the Officers and allowed them inside the home.
Officers located approximately 80 marijuana plants at the home in what they believe is an illegal grow operation. The resident does not have a license to grow marijuana. The resident was not arrested and the plants were not seized.
Neighbors we talked to were outraged that the officers did not confiscate the marijuana. They said the entire neighborhood has been reporting the suspicious activity at the house for months now.
They also said that after Officers left, the resident was observed later in the day, removing the marijuana plants from the residence.
Today, police went back to the residence with Code Enforcement Officers to document the plants.
A Sedro Woolley Police Spokesman said that no arrests were made and the Officers did not confiscate any of the marijuana plants. He also said the resident of the home was cooperative.
A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous said, “We still don’t understand why they didn’t arrest him and confiscate the plants, the first day they found them. I know he cooperated and let them in, but it seems messed up to me. Our neighborhood has been reporting this suspicious activity for the last few months.”
The Skagit County Interlocal Drug Task Force will follow up with an investigation and possible charges.
