


Diablo Dam: The Washington State Patrol and Medic 7 responded to a motorcycle accident on West State Route 20, just East of Diablo Dam Road around 7:18 pm on July 18th, 2015.
According to the Washington State Patrol press memo, William and Stephanie Rude, of Mount Vernon were Westbound on State Route 20 near Diablo Dam Road on a Black and silver, 2004 YAMAHA XCS11A, when the motorcycle left the roadway and rolled over.
The press memo states both riders were wearing USDOT Compliant Helmets and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the accident. It also states the the driver had a valid Washington State Drivers License with a motorcycle endorsement.
The press memo states that 49, year old William Rude was transported to Harborview Medical Center.
Passenger Stepanie Rude was transported to St. Joes Hospital in Bellingham.
A witness and friend of the couple, Misty Crider, gave us an update on the couple via our Facebook page. She said that William Rude is having surgery for a broken collar bone and six broken ribs. Stephanie Rude is in surgery for a shattered left ankle.
She also wanted to Thank everyone who stopped to help.
Another witness and friend, Jacynda Mckenzie, wrote a warning for other motorcycle riders in the area. She said there is gravel in the road on SR20 right past the lookout from cars coming and going from the lookout.
The press memo states the cause as “wheels off the roadway”.
