Fire Near Birdsview Right on Highway 20

Concrete Fire Department and Birdsview Fire Department were called to a fire on the side of Highway 20. fire in BirdsviewThe fire, close to Baker Lake Grocery,  looks small enough and will hopefully be detained quickly.
Reports on our social media page say that the Rails to Trails walking path that parallels the highway, is completely engulfed at the spot of the fire.

Grassmere Fire was also called to assist in putting out this fire. All of our first responders are great. At the time we wrote this article, the fire was on the north side of the highway.

Great time to mention that Birdsview Brewery is having their big fundraiser for Birdsview Fire Department August 1st. Show up and support those that are out there for you!

Note: Phone and internet is down in the area. If anyone has been trying to call someone and is having trouble getting though, this is the problem.

Update: Med is responding to the scene, which has moved away from Highway 20 and has moved closer to Baker Lake Road, for a firefighter suffering a medical issue. They also requested Red Cross bring drinking water for the firefighters.

After reading our social media post about the firefighters needing water, a good samaritan posted this comment, “I live at mile post 81 I just brought a case of water that I had in my car.. They are hot and tired and clearly hero’s!” We think you are awesome too. She continued by adding, “Traffic still stopped at Lusk Road. So, I was able to get close and walk it up at about mile post 82.”

This video was submitted to us on social media. We do not recommend that you use your phone while driving!
