Mount Vernon, WA: Mount Vernon Officers were called to a stabbing on the Kulshan trail around 7 pm tonight with multiple people reported to be possibly injured.
According to police and fire scanner traffic, one victim was stabbed three or four times and was treated by Mount Vernon Firefighters and Medics. He was transported priority to Skagit Valley Hospital by Medics. His condition is not immediately known.
Several others had cuts and superficial knife wounds, but did not appear to have life threatening injuries. The total number of injured was not immediately known. Dispatchers from Skagit 9-1-1 took quite a few calls for this incident as there were many people in the park.
The Mount Vernon Police Department quickly took one person into custody in the incident and recovered a knife nearby that was believed to be used in the attack with help from witnesses. Officers were still looking for a possible 2nd suspect who ran from the scene. K-9 tried to track the second suspect but there were too many other people in the area to properly track.
Mount Vernon Officers, Detectives, C.O.P.P members and Officers from the Skagit County Sheriff’s are continuing to investigate the scene and interview witnesses. A complete press release will be sent out tomorrow from Lt. Chris Cammock, once details of the attack are fully investigated.
It is unclear if this stabbing is related to the earlier reported drive by shooting near the Outlet Mall on northbound I-5, or the two drive by shooting on south 27th in Mount Vernon or the double homicide on I-5.
Kulshan Trail and Bakerview Park are active Crime scenes, so please avoid those areas and let officers do their jobs.
This is a developing story and official details will be available tomorrow. We will update our audience when those details become available.
