Man Arrested After DUI Crash Injures Sedro Woolley Woman

Whatcom County- The Washington State Patrol responded to a serious inujury crash on State Route 9 in Whatcom County on September 7th, 2015.

According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, Troopers were dispatched at 3:42 pm to the area of SR9 and Nelson road.

Troopers reported that Richard Carey, 46, of Deming was traveling  in circles and under the influence of  alcohol  in a 1972 Chevrolet Suburban in a private field in the area when the vehicle rolled multiple times and landed on it’s side.

A passenger in the vehicle, Suzan Ray, 50 of Sedro-Woolley, Washington was seriously injured and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham. It is unknown if the passenger was wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the accident is listed as alcohol and the driver was booked into the Whatcom County Jail and charges are pending.

The vehicle was impounded to the 714 Bullpen by Hortons Towing.
