.Mount Vernon, WA– On September 8, 2015 at approximately 3:40 pm, a 68-year-old Mount Vernon man contacted two male minors at a skate park in Mount Vernon. He asked the boys if they wanted to come back to his house and watch pornographic movies. The boys declined and did the right thing by immediately notifying an adult at a nearby sports complex.
The adult observed the suspect leaving the park and obtained a detailed vehicle description including distinct stickers across the rear bumper.
Detectives were able to identify the car owner and criminal history research showed the individual had a previous arrest in 1994 for lewd conduct with minors. They learned his style for approaching victims was to say he was an army veteran or offered baseball cards to befriend them.
On September 10, 2015, Detectives served a search warrant at the suspect’s home locating a DVR and adult films. The male was taken into custody and booked into Skagit County Jail for Investigation of Luring and Communicating With A Minor For Immoral Purposes.
Police are trying to determine if this individual or vehicle has been involved in any other crimes or suspicious circumstances that may have gone unreported.
