Mount Vernon, WA- On August 20th, 2015 the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to reports of a woman in the emergency room who was the victim of a domestic violence assault.
According to the probable cause affidavit of arrest, a Mount Vernon man was arrested for domestic violence-assault 2nd, domestic violene- Felony Harassment and domestic violence- unlawful imprisonment. *Note: We have removed the name of the man to protect the victim.
The affidavit states that the man refused to let his live in girlfriend leave the apartment when a friend of her showed up to visit her.
The affidavit says the man slammed the front door closed and repeatedly told his girlfriend she wasn’t going anywhere. When she argued that she was going to leave, the affidavit says he pulled out a 6″ switch blade pocket knife, opened it and told his girlfriend, “I will take you out, you’re not going anywhere”.
The affidavit also says he blocked the front door, stood inches from her and held the knife in his right hand and pointed it towards her in an aggressive, angry and menacing manner, causing her to fear for her life and believe that he was about to kill her.
The affidavit states she ran for the bedroom, where she made an attempt to open the window and escape out the window. The affidavit says the man angrily forced the window closed to prevent her escape.
She began hitting the window in a hard manner to get the attention of anybody for help. She then broke the window with her right hand, causing numerous cuts to her hands. The affidavit states the cuts began to bleed badly and that he yelled at her, “you idiot you broke the window.”
The man then let her leave where she went to the emergency room to get treated for her cuts.
The man is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail on $10,000 bail for multiple charges.
