Mount Vernon, WA– Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to the 300 block of Pacific Place for reports of a  purse theft from a business around 9:20 am,  on November 20th, 2015.

The victim stated that her purse had been taken out of her office and the business was not open and there shouldn’t have been any access to the purse from the public.   Missing items included credit cards, an Iphone 5, Coach Sunglasses and other various items.

Officers responded to a drug problem in the 900 block of East College Way at the DSHS building.   Security guards were  contacted by several  citizens who said that a man had been trying to sell marijuana in front of the business. Security guards then witnessed the man attempt to sell Marijuana to customers walking in and out of the business.

Officers contacted the man, David Pollard, of Snohomish County and placed him under arrest for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.  Officers searched the subject after the arrest and found a wallet in his left front pocket that contained the Washington ID and Credit cards of the previous theft victim.   Officers then searched a backpack type bag that the suspect had been wearing. Officers found a new tablet, a phone and other items inside the bag.

Mr. Pollard admitted to Mount Vernon Officers that he had taken the items from the theft victim and then used her stolen credit cards to purchase items from Rite Aid. Upon a further search, Officers found receipts for the tablet and three gift cards were found in the bag as well. The receipts matched the card numbers on the stolen credit cards and Mr. Pollard had signed for the items at the register.

Mr. Pollard had been contacted around 7:45 am the same morning at the Best Western on Market Street after reports of a male they wanted removed. This was approximately 2 blocks from where the purse was stolen from and prior to the reported purse theft.

David Pollard was booked into the Skagit County Jail for three counts of Burglary 2nd degree, theft 2nd degree, forgery, Identity theft 1st degree, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, identity theft 2nd degree, and possession of stolen property 2nd degree. He is currently being held in lieu of a $20,000 bail.

His last know address is listed as the 19000 block of 36th Street SE in Snohomish, Washington.
