Burlington, WA- A 42 year old Burlington man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 31 year old relative after she passed out after a party in Mount Vernon.
According to the arrest warrant declaration, the woman had a party at her house, where she reported everyone had been heavily drinking.
The woman reported to Officers that after the party a female friend helped her to her bedroom where she changed and went to bed. The friend then left.
The woman reported that in the early morning hours, she woke up and someone had removed her pants and was sexually assaulting her. Due to her level of intoxication and the darkness of the room, she was unsure who it was but had not given consent.
Officers narrowed down the suspect by interviewing those in attendance of the party.
Officers obtained DNA swabs from the potential suspects and in June of 2015, Mount Vernon Officers received a Washington State Patrol Crime Lab report that indicated one of the suspects DNA matched the DNA recovered by Doctors from the Victim after the sexual assault.
In December of 2015, Officers arrested the Suspect on a Felony Warrant and booked him into the Skagit County Jail on charges of Rape and incest.
