Mount Vernon, WA- On Monday, January 4th, 2106 around 5:40 pm a witness reported a van versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of South 1st Street and Myrtle Street in downtown Mount Vernon.
Mount Vernon Police, Firefighters and medics responded to the scene and found the pedestrian, a 64 year old male from Mount Vernon, on the ground with apparent injuries.
The vehicle, a tan Chevy Astro Van, was still in the middle of the intersection but witnesses told Officers that the driver and a passenger had ran Westbound on Myrtle Street from the scene of the crash.
The injured male was transported by medics to Skagit Valley Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
K-9 was called out, but the track was unsuccessful due to the amount of pedestrian traffic in the area at the time.
Mount Vernon Officers contacted the registered owner of the van, who reported the van had been sold a few months earlier. Police talked with witnesses and are further investigating who may have been in control of the van at the time of the crash.
The Investigation is ongoing.
