On Tuesday, January 12th, 2016 at 7PM, there will be a meeting regarding the Mount Vernon School District Bond. There are proposed expansion, safety upgrades, school improvements, and expanded opportunities. The meeting will be at LaVenture Middle School.
The last bond was approved in 2001, and since then, the district has seen 1,000 newly enrolled students. Overcrowding is a concern and will be an issue with a projected 500 new students in the coming years.
This event will inform “Just The Facts” to the community. At the event, there will be free child care, light snack, and the opportunity to register to vote if you aren’t already a voter in the Mount Vernon District.
There will be a chance to ask Superintendent Carl Bruner questions about the proposed bond on February 9, 2016. Small World Child Development is hosting the event and it will be bilingual.
