Concrete, WA- Firefighters from Concrete, Fire District 8, Fire District 10, and The City Of Sedro Woolley responded to a structure fire around 2:42 pm on Monday, January 25th, in the 8300 block of Gordon Road.
Local residents Samantha Richert and Rick Bannerman lost their rental home to the fire and three of their beloved pet cats are missing. It is unclear if the cats died in the fire or if they ran off and are scared and haven’t came back as they are afraid of strangers. Below are two photos of the three missing cats. If you have seen the cats, you are asked to contact the owners, who we have linked in this story so they can come and pick them up.
Concrete is a small, tight knit community and the community has come together to help their neighbors. Fundraisers are being put into place by Eric Cooper, who runs the Concrete, WA and Upriver Facebook Group and members of the community have started collecting donations of clothing and household items. A drop off point is still in the works, so for more information and updates on how you can help, please visit the Facebook Group.
The Red Cross has helped the Couple temporarily with housing and they are very worried about their missing cats.
It is unclear how the fire started.
Below are photos of the missing cats:

The Orange Cat is Junior and he has been missing since the fire.

These two grey cats are Marpa and Leia, the black cat is no longer with us. Marpa has a surgically shortened tail. Both are very skittish about strangers.
According to the Skagit County Assessors Website, the home is a 1 and a half story, 1,348 Square foot home built in 1923. The Assessors Website states, the home is owned by Christine Paone of Maple Shode, New Jersey. The home is a total loss.
