EVERETT, WA –  Naval Station Everett will participate in Exercise SOLID CURTAIN-CITADEL SHIELD 2016 (SC-CS16) which will be conducted on naval installations throughout the continental United States, including Navy Region Northwest, February 1-12.

Due to this exercise, there will be gate closures at Naval Station Everett on Feb. 4 between the hours of 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal base operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic to the base or delays in base access.

Training at NSE may also include shooting blank rounds, small-scale simulation of explosives, and a heightened law enforcement presence on base property.

This annual exercise uses realistic scenarios to ensure U.S. Navy security forces maintain a high level of readiness and are capable of responding to changing and dynamic threats. It also provides the opportunity for the Navy to practice mutual aid agreements with local law enforcement.

SC-CS16 is a regularly scheduled exercise and is not in response to a specific threat to any particular installation according to the press release from the US NAVY on 1/26/16.
