Three Car Crash on State Route 20 Injures Two

ISLAND COUNTY, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a 3-vehicle crash on State Route 20 at NW Broadway Street in Coupeville around 8:43 am on February  20th, 2016.

According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 16-year old Alexxis Otto, of Oak Harbor was traveling Southbound on State Route 20 in a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville when she attempted to make a left hand turn onto NW Broadway Street and collided with a Northbound 2012 Can Am Spyder 3-wheeled motorcycle  driven by 66-year old Gary Hoyt of Greenbank. The impact of the crash pushed the motorcycle into a 1993 Mercury Sable, driven by 73-year old Billy Regan of Coupveille. The Mercury Sable  was traveling on NW Broadway Street towards State Route 20 when it was struck.

The press memo states both the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger, 65 year old Linda Hoyt of Greenbank were both transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries.

The other two drivers were not injured in the crash.

The Bonneville and Motorcycle were both totaled and impounded for safe keeping to Christians Towing.  The Mercury Sable was  damaged  but driven from the scene.

All Occupants of the three vehicles were wearing the appropriate safety harnesses and helmets.  The press memo states that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

The cause of the crash is listed as “failure to yield right of way” and charges are pending against the causing driver.
