Driver Killed Overnight After Crashing Into D.O.T Truck

Everett, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash just before 3:00 am this morning involving a Washington State Department of Transportation Truck.

According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a 1991 Ford Explorer was Northbound on I-5 near the Everett Mall when it struck a  cement wall and then a 1997 International Washington State Department of Transportation Traffic Control Dump Truck that was stationary on the left shoulder with it’s  lights activated.  The WSDOT truck was being driven by 25-year old Benjamin Massa of Lynnwood.   The Ford Explorer burst into flames and the driver died at the scene.   Positive Identification has not been made on the driver and the Washington State Patrol will release details on the driver once the driver is identified and next of Kin have been notified.

 

The D.O.T vehicle sustained around $5,000 worth of damage and was driven from the scene after the investigation.  The D.O.T worker suffered minor injuries in the crash.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash and no charges are pending.
