Mount Vernon Police Respond to Shooting

Mount Vernon, WA- According to a press release from Lt. Chris Cammock with the Mount Vernon Police Department, at around 7:23 PM this evening, a 19-year-old Mount Vernon man was walking near the railroad tracks in the 100 block of W. Section Street in Mount Vernon.

A dark colored vehicle occupied by several subjects drove through the area and ended up confronting the 19-year-old.

During the confrontation an occupant or occupants from the vehicle fired a weapon at the 19-year-old.  The 19-year-old was struck in the leg and was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital for treatment.  His injuries are not life-threatening.

The dark colored vehicle left the area and police are working to locate it.  This area of Section Street was closed for about three hours while investigators collected evidence and examined the scene.
