Alger, Washington: The Washington State Patrol responded to a serious injury motorcycle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 236, 5.3 miles from Burlington this afternoon.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 47 year old Todd Benson of Ferndale was traveling at a very high rate of speed Southbound I-5 between Milepost 235 and 236 on a 1991 Honda CBR motorcycle when he left the roadway and struck the ditch on the inside of the roadway.
The Driver was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries to his neck and upper body. The driver was transported by medics to Skagit Valley Hospital and then airlifted by Airlift Northwest to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
A witness to the crash told SkagitBreaking.com, “I saw the motorcycle traveling South on I-5 just a little past the bow hill freeway entrance in excess of 90-100 miles per hour prior to the crash. Less than a mile ahead I slammed on my brakes when I saw the motorcycle and helmet in the middle of the freeway and a mans body laying on the side of the road. He appeared to be breathing then I called 9-1-1.”
The press memo from the Washington State Patrol says drugs or alcohol are believed to be involved in the crash.
The Washington State Patrol, DOT, and Fire Department personnel responded as well as an accident investigator.
The mans condition or identify has not been provided by the Washington State Patrol.
