The City of Burlington has selected finalists for the Fire Chief position. There will be an evening reception held on Tuesday, April 26th, at the City Council Chambers, 833 S Spruce St, Burlington WA 98233. The reception will begin at 6:00 PM and will include a meet and greet with the candidates along with a short presentation by each candidate. The public is invited to attend. Robert Law has served Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue, Silverdale, Washington, since 1985. He started as a volunteer before becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic over 30 years ago. He moved up through the ranks to serving as Battalion Chief for almost 4 years and then to his current position as Division Chief of Medical, which he has held for four years. Mr. Law has an associate degree in Fire Command Administration from Olympic College, Bremerton, Washington, and a Certificate of Paramedicine from Tacoma Community College, Washington.

Michael Mavrogeorge has been the Fire Chief for the Saint Louis Downtown Airport Fire Department, Cahokia, Illinois, since 2008. Prior to that, he served the MidAmerica St. Louis Airport Department of Public Safety, Mascoutah, Illinois, from 2005-2008, his last position there being Deputy Chief. He was also a Firefighter/Engineer for the O’Fallon Fire Department in Illinois for five years, and he was a Firefighter for the New Baden Fire Department in Illinois for three years. Mr. Mavrogeorge has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Walden University, Baltimore, Maryland.

David Walker has served the City of Kirkland, Washington, Fire/Building Department since 1989, progressing through the ranks from Firefighter to his current position of Battalion Chief-Fire Marshal, which he has held since 2013. He is also currently serving as part time interim Fire Marshal for Skagit County, Washington. Mr. Walker has served as a Fire Commissioner for Skagit County Fire District #5. He has an associate degree in Fire Officer from Bellevue College, Washington, and a bachelor’s degree in Business/Human Resources Management from the Western Governors University in Utah.

Patrick Wineman is a Battalion Chief for Marion County Fire District #1 in Oregon and has been with the district since 2007. His 18 years of emergency services experience include serving the Jefferson Rural Fire Protection District in Oregon as Firefighter/EMT, Paramedic and Lieutenant, the Cornelius Fire Department in Oregon as EMS & Training Coordinator, and he was Regional Fire Training Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards & Training. Mr. Wineman has a bachelor’s degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.

Levon Yengoyan has served Camano Island Fire & Rescue, Camano Island, Washington, since 1998, progressing through the ranks from Firefighter to Lieutenant, then Captain, and then to his current position of Assistant Chief, which he has held since 2004. Mr. Yengoyan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Washington. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
