18-Year Old Coupeville Woman Dies in Crash

Island County, Washington– The Washington State Patrol Responded to a fatal crash on West Beach Road at Swantown Road in Island County at 4:21 am on May 2nd, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol,  Jeromy Ladwig, 35, of Oak Harbor was driving erratically in a 2001 Ford Mustang as he left the Jospeph Whidbey State Park.

The press memo states he was traveling Southbound at a high rate of speed onto  Swantown Road and failed to stop at the stop sign as he was  leaving the park. His vehicle was T-boned  by a  2004 Dodge Dakota Pickup that was Eastbound on West Beach Road,  driven by 26-year old Nathan Dee of Oak Harbor. The impact of the crash sent both vehicle off the roadway into a field.

  A passenger in the Mustang, 18-year old, Keesha M. Harden, of Coupeville suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Whidbey General Hospital for injuries.

A third Passenger in the Mustang, 32-year old Randon Koepke was also injured and taken to Whidbey General Hospital.

Trooper Mark Francis said  Troopers have probable cause to arrest Jeromy Ladwig, the driver of the Mustang for being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Potential drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the Mustang and the driver also admitted to taking prescription medications prior to the crash.” He will be arrested for Suspicion of Vehicular Homicide once he is released from the Hospital.”

Friends of the couple  said the Driver of the Mustang and the deceased woman were in a dating relationship.
