Bellingham, Washington- On Saturday May 14 at 4:10 a.m., Bellingham Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of James Street for a burglary and theft.
The home owner reported that someone had just gone into his garage and had stolen two mountain bikes.
Within 20 minutes from the time of the call, a Bellingham Officer spotted a white Jeep Cherokee with two mountain bikes secured to the roof. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the bikes were verified as the stolen items from the previously reported break-in on James Street.
34-year old Jeremy Krause and 18 year old Mariah Henry, both of Sedro Woolley were arrested for Burglary 2 and Theft 2. Their last known address is in the 800 block of Borseth Street in Sedro Woolley.
There were multiple other items in the Jeep. One backpack was confirmed stolen from a car a couple blocks away from the James Street burglary. A significant amount of recreational boating gear, including water sports gear, was also found in the Jeep. Bellingham Police impounded the items and placed a notification to the public about the recovered items via their Official Facebook page. Detectives were able to quickly identify the remaining victims of the stolen items.
Jeremy Krause remains in custody at the Whatcom County Jail, while Mariah Henry has been released from jail pending her next court appearance.
Online records show Mr. Krause has a lengthy rap sheet, with over 30 court cases spanning several counties, while this is Ms. Henry’s First court case.
