Skagit Valley Is Getting a New Veterans Community Park

Skagit Valley Veterans Community Park

Skagit County, Washington– Skagit County will soon have a top notch Veterans Park that honors and recognizes the service and sacrifices of the men and women, of Skagit County, that served our Country.

The Park is going to be located on a portion of the old Northern State Hospital property that is now owned by Skagit County Parks and Recreation. The County Commissioners unanimously voted to designate this property for such a park.

You are invited to the Ground Breaking Ceremony that will take place on Friday, May 20th at 2 PM. The address is 25625 Helmich Road, Sedro Woolley.

“This has been a long time coming and well deserved” said Ted Carney, Project Manager for the new park, and Past Commandant of the Skagit Valley Marine Corps League.  “There are some great folks here in the valley that have been working on this for quite some time, and now it’s finally going to come true.  The Citizens of Skagit County should be very proud of their new park.”

Mr. Carney continued, “Besides all the dignitaries at this event, I believe there’s going to be a couple of our WWII vets there, and I’m looking forward to recognizing them and giving them a sharp salute.”
