Mount Vernon Man Arrested for Criminal Street Gang Graffiti

Suspect Arrested

Mount Vernon, Washington-On Monday morning, May 16th, Mount Vernon Parks staff found graffiti’d walls along the Riverwalk area of  Downtown Mount Vernon that occurred during the previous night.

The Parks employee spent time reviewing recorded video footage from the public cameras along the walkway and observed the suspect as he made his way along the trail.

According to a press release from Lt. Chris Cammock of the Mount Vernon Police Department, the image and description of the suspect  was put out to Mount Vernon Police Department  staff and one of the Mount Vernon Officers recognized the suspect.

Around 4:00 am, Tuesday May 17th, an off-duty Mount Vernon Police Officer had just gotten off his shift and was near Walmart when he spotted the suspect on foot in the 2300 block of Freeway drive.

The off-duty Officer  called on-duty officers who responded and contacted an 18-year-old Mount Vernon man,  who was arrested and booked into Skagit County Jail for malicious destruction of public property.

According to the online records for the Skagit County Jail Roster, 18-year old Tristan Dillon Johnson was arrested at 4:01 am on May 17th, 2016 for  suspicion of Criminal Street Gang Tag/Graffiti. He is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail. Click here for more information.
