Oak Harbor Police Investigating Theft of U.S. Flags from Multiple City Locations

OAK HARBOR, WA — March 20, 2026

The Oak Harbor Police Department is actively investigating a vandalism incident that occurred overnight involving multiple U.S. flags at city-owned properties.

According to officials, unknown individual(s) cut halyard lines (flagpole ropes) and removed several American flags from locations across the city.

📍 Impacted Locations:

City Hall

Windjammer Park

Beeksma Park

Flintstone Park

City staff, along with law enforcement, are currently assessing the damage and working to restore the affected flagpoles as quickly as possible.

While replacement flags are available, repairs may take additional time due to the halyard lines being cut or removed.

Authorities are reviewing available surveillance footage and following up on leads.

🚨 Public Assistance Requested:

The City of Oak Harbor is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or has information about those responsible to contact 9-1-1 immediately.

Officials thanked the community for their patience as repairs and the investigation continue.
