Lyman, Washington- The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible homicide after performing a welfare check on a 76-year old resident in the 8200 block of Maple Avenue in Lyman on June 23rd.

According to online records, Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies were called for a welfare check of 76-year old Margie Conard of Lyman around 7:19 pm on the evening of June 23rd, 2016.
Responding Officers found her body in the residence and made an arrest of a relative at 7:56 pm at the residence on an unrelated Department of Corrections Warrant.
The relative, Gordon Conard, is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail for the Department of Corrections Warrant. No one has been officially arrested or charged with the woman’s murder but the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office said they have a “person of interest in the case and do not feel the public is in danger.”
An autopsy was performed on Monday, June 27th, 2016 by the Skagit County Coroner and the cause and manner of the woman’s death will be released by the Skagit County Coroners Office once the Law Enforcement Investigation is completed.
No additional information was immediately available from Law Enforcement, citing the ongoing investigation.

Several members of the small community of Lyman requested time to grieve and mourn the death of Margie Conard before the information was made public.
Margie Conard’s celebration of life will be held at the Lyman Church, July 2nd at 1pm. p Potluck fellowship to follow.
