Maple Falls Man Arrested For Vehicular Assault

Sedro Woolley, Washington– The Washington State Patrol responded to a serious injury crash on State Route 9 near Bassett Road around 2 am on July 9th, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 24-year old Andrey Kapustin of Maple Falls was Northbound on State Route 9 in a white 2007 Ford F150 pickup when he lost control in a curve and his vehicle rolled, landing in a ditch.  The press memo states Mr. Kapustin was wearing a seat belt but was believed to be  driving under the influence at the time of the crash.  He was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital and later booked into the Skagit County Jail for Investigation of Vehicular Assault and driving under the influence.

A passenger in the truck, 28-year old Ivan Demyanov of Maple Falls received severe head injuries in the crash and was transported by medics to the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was then transported by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where his condition is unknown.

The Vehicle was impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen in Burlington.

The press memo lists the cause of the crash as DUI and driving over the center line.
