Mount Vernon, WA- Mount Vernon Police responded to the Walmart store on Freeway drive just after 2:33 pm on March 27th, 2016 for reports of a female shoplifter who had previously been trespassed from the store that was inside the store, taking items out of their package and concealing them in her purse.
Mount Vernon Officers made contact with the woman inside the store and asked her to accompany them to the loss prevention office, which she did.
The woman, later identified as Alexus Lauer confessed to Officers that she had cut the package of a pair of headphones with a folding knife and placed the headphones in her purse. Upon search incident to arrest, Officers located a stolen wallet in her purse that belonged to another woman. The wallet contained the drivers license and Bank Of America Visa Card belonging to the owner of the wallet. Officers also located a COSTCO card in the name of a third woman. The owner of the COSTCO card was contacted and confirmed that Ms. Lauer should not be in possession of her Costco card.
Alexus Lauer was booked into the Skagit County Jail for the following:
Investigation of Burglary 2nd (03/27/16)
Possession of Stolen Property 2nd (03/27/16)
Ms. Lauer was detained by Officers with the Burlington Police Department on 06/02/16 for Criminal Trespassing 1st and again on 06/18/16 for Criminal Trespassing 1st.
Mount Vernon Officers made contact with her again on July 12th, 2016 at the Safeway store and she was arrested and booked into the Skagit County Jail on Outstanding Warrants . She is currently being held in Lieu of $5,000 bail.
