Pedestrian Struck and Killed on SR530 Near Arlington

Arlington, Washington- The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatality collision on State Route 530, two miles West of Arlington  around 4:17 am on July 31st, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 65-year old Donald Ulberg of Arlington was traveling Westbound SR530 near milepost 18 in a white 1998 Ford Windstar when he struck a pedestrian.

According to Troopers, 27-year old Shane Stieben of Everett, was walking on SR530 when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Next of Kin was notified by Troopers.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and charges are pending against the driver of the Windstar.

The driver of the  Windstar was not injured and was transported to his residence. The Windstar was  impounded to the Washington State Patrol bullpen.
