Granite Falls Motorcyclist Hit by Intoxicated Driver

Snohomish County, Washington- The Washington State Patrol responded to a injury crash on East State Route 92 at 147th Avenue Northeast around 11:11pm on August 4th, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 51-year old Paul Allaire of Seattle was Westbound on State Route 92 in a white 1999 Toyota Pickup when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto 147th Avenue in front of an Eastbound 2011 Kawasaki VN900D Motorcycle being driven by  48-year old Robert Mathew of Granite Falls. The motorcycle  was unable to stop and struck the Toyota Pickup and the rider was ejected from him motorcycle and injured.  He was taken by medics to Providence Hospital Colby Campus.

The press memo states the motorcycle driver had a valid motorcycle endorsement and was wearing a US-DOT compliant helmet at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is listed as “failure to yield right of way when turning left.” The driver of the pickup was not injured and was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Suspicion of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol  and Vehicular Assault.

Both vehicles were impounded to the Washington State Patrol District 7 bullpen.
