Oak Harbor Man Arrested For Sexual Assault of Teen

Mount Vernon, WA-  An  Oak Harbor man has been arrested for suspicion of sexually assaulting a 14-year old teen boy.

According to a probable cause affidavit of arrest, obtained by SkagitBreaking.com through a public records request a 49-year old man from Oak Harbor was arrested after a 14 year old teen says the man sexually assaulted him in a hotel room.  The teen told detectives  the adult male approached the teen in a vehicle as the teen was walking on Hoag Road and offered the teen some food.  The teen said he accepted the offer and he got into the mans car and  they went to Wal-Mart where the teen waited outside while the man purchased alcohol and then the two of them went to the adult males nearby hotel room.

The teen told investigators that the two watched TV before the adult asked the teen to “take a shower”.  The teen said he agreed because he had not showered in a few days.  While showering the teen said the adult came into the bathroom for a short time.  After exiting the shower, the teen said the adult male  showed the teen  several pornographic photos of himself on his cell phone and the teen said the adult male then made him drink some of the alcohol.

The teen then told investigators the man sexually assaulted him over the next several hours before he passed out.  The teen then woke up in the middle of the night and went to a nearby business and used their wi-fi on his cell phone and returned to the hotel room where he went back to sleep. The teen said he could not remember if the man was there at that time  but when he woke up again in the morning,  the man and the vehicle were both gone.

Detectives were able to obtain the adult males information and vehicle information from the rental slip at the hotel.

The teen then made arrangements via text message to meet up with the man again near Walmart for beer to be purchased for the teen. When the man arrived, Officers made contact with the man and arrested him.

During the interview the adult male told Detectives that he had bought beer for the teen and cigarettes but denied having the teen back to his hotel room or sexually assaulting him. The man also denied having pornographic photos on his cell phone.

The adult males vehicle was impounded, which had his cell phone inside. Detectives gained a search warrant for the vehicle and cell phone and located pornographic photos on the phone that had been sent to other men in apparent communications to meet.

The adult male was arrested and  booked into the Skagit County Jail for Investigation of Rape of a Child 3rd Degree.
